I'm happily married now, but in my single days, Valentines Day was the worst. Worse than Christmas or anything else. Nothing was like being alone on that day. Then I realized how contrived it was, and how fake it was, and how commercial it was. Steak dinner for two, normally around $40 is somehow close to $100 on VD. F that! Love Stinks!, with a busted heart, surrounded by spattered and spilled blood, right in the middle of the Valentines Day target.
